Three Policemen arrested for abduction
MAR 21, KATHMANDU. Three policemen were arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with abduction of a statue trader.
A joint team dispatched from Metropolitan Police Crime Division and Metropolitan Police Circle Boudha apprehended two sub-inspectors and one assistant inspector on the charge of threatening a businessman dealing in artifacts and demanding a hefty sum of money from him on Wednesday.
According to a complaint lodged with police, they took Rs. 2, 00,000 from a businessman after threatening to arrest him.
According to Metropolitan Police Circle Boudha the arrestees have been identified as sub-inspector Prakash Malla and Rudraraj Paudel and assistant inspector Raju Bhandari.
According to an investigating team, the trio had abducted Karna Dhoj Limbu (41), a permanent resident Phapunga VDC -6, Taplegunj district and currently residing at Dhalkhu, Chetrapati on Sunday.
Subsequently, the team kept him in a guest house and was bargaining with him for the money.
The abductors demanded Rs 400,000 in ransom. Limbu was freed after paying Rs 150,000.
Limbu was freed from the hands of his abductors on Monday and he immediately lodged an FIR in the Metropolitan Police Crime Division against them.
