Himalayan Marathon Club-Nepal is organizing the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon on October 10, 2014.

At a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday, the club said it expected around 150 participants -- both male and female.

Participants will run 42.723 km from Jumla to Rara Lake, the club's president Chetan Raj Giri said.

The winners in the men's and women's categories will each bag Rs 35,000, while men's and women's runners-up will get Rs 20,000 each. The third placed of categories will get Rs 15,000 each.

Similarly, the other top 10 finishers will get Rs 3,000 each.

The event will also feature a men's veteran marathon (40+) category, the winner of which will be awarded Rs 8,000, the second Rs 5,000 and the third Rs 3,000.

The total cost for organising the event is around Rs 2 million, the organizer, says. The club has set an entry fee of Rs 1,000.
