4 yarsa pickers die of altitude sickness in Mugu in a week

MUGU, June 4: At least four persons who had gone to collect Yarsagumba in the highlands of Mugu district have died of altitude sickness in a week.
The victims have been identified as Resham Budha,17, of Rowa VDC-7of Mugu district, Min Bahadur Tiruwa, 19, of Tatopani VDC of Jumla, Man Bahadur Baniya, 24, of Chhirikot and Man Bahadur Bohara, 44, of Chhumchaur of Mugu, District Police Office (DPO) Mugu confirmed.
Budha died on Tuesday, Tiruwa and Baniya died on Saturday while Bohara lost his life on May 28.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Puskar KC at DPO Mugu,Tiruwa and Baniya breathed last on Monday on the way back home after they suffered from altitude sickness. However, Bohara died last Wednesday.
DSP KC said, many yarsa pickers have fallen sick as the snow in the highlands has yet to melt. Many are suffering from diarrhea and dysentery.
Likewise, many have abandoned their trips midway due to health problems including altitude sickness.
